Domaine Trapet

Among the noble wine regions of Burgundy and Alsace, Domaine Trapet Père et Fils creates expressions of sublime purity and authenticity strongly tied to their respective territories of origin. The origins of the Domaine date back to 1859, when Louis Trapet moved with his wife Marie Raillard de Gevrey to the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy, where he purchased the first vineyard. Over the following decades, the different generations of the Trapet family passed the baton, leading the winery to establish itself as a benchmark for the entire Côte de Nuits area. In 2003, the current owner Jean-Louis Trapet and his wife Andréé took over the Alsatian estate of her family, located in the municipality of Riquewihr, enthusiastically embarking on a new winemaking adventure and converting the entire Domaine to biodynamics. The couple's goal is to express the truest character of the two terroirs, which are the protagonists of absolute excellence in their respective types. Today, the vineyards of Riquewihr are managed by the young sons Pierre and Louis Trapet, sixth generation of winemakers in the family.

The vineyards of Domaine Trapet are located between Burgundy, where the estate has about 18 hectares planted with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and Alsace, where the 14 hectares of vines are dedicated to the traditional varieties Gewurztraminer, Riesling Renano, and Pinot Gris. In Burgundy, the plots are distributed between the Côte de Beaune and the areas of Marsannay and Gevrey-Chambertin in Côte de Nuits, where the Domaine owns three Grand Cru vineyards: Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin, and Latricières-Chambertin. In Alsace, where the soils are partly clay-limestone and partly chalky, the Trapet family can boast five Grand Cru: Schoenenbourg, Schlossberg, Sporen, Sonnenglanz, and Mambourg. On all its vineyards, the Domaine applies the principles of certified organic farming and biodynamics, while the winemaking approach aims to enhance the characteristics of each parcel. In this perspective, alcoholic fermentation always occurs spontaneously, sometimes in stainless steel tanks and sometimes in small oak barrels or open vats, with the subsequent aging phase that can take place in concrete eggs or in oak barrels, new or used.

This gives rise to a selection of highly prestigious labels, at the top quality levels of their respective territories of origin, interpreted with all the experience and mastery of the Trapet family.
