Domaine Tremeaux
Domaine Tremeaux is the story of a family that is strongly intertwined with the noble and renowned grapes of Burgundy. It all begins with Gabriel, who founded the winery inspired by the wonderful landscape of Marcurey, in the deepest heart of Burgundy. The bucolic landscapes, the sinuous hills, the small wooded clusters that alternate with the rural villages where wild nature has given way to the orderly arrangements of the vineyards. At the beginning of the last century, Gabriel put into practice, in the truest sense of the term, all his passion, committing himself to the study of the vine and its products, but also to the cultivation of cereals and the breeding of horses. The dream was shattered by the First World War and among the fields, only Martha, his wife, remained to fully manage both the winery and the farmhouse. Returned from the War, Gabriel managed to pass on his passion to his son George and grandson Gilles, up to the last generation, represented by Nicolas, who since 1998 has brought his dynamism to the winery, where quality is at home.
The reds of Domaine Tremeauxare obtained from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, in the Cote Chalonnaise, one of the most important denominations of Burgundy. The vines are all over forty years old and the deep roots ensure particularly rich nourishment for the plant, which will express, thanks to this, all the varied facets of the terroir of origin. The ten hectares are positioned in a particularly favorable solar exposure and the soils are characterized by a strong clayey limestone presence, typical of the great vineyards of Burgundy. As per regulations, all operations in the vineyard are carried out manually and, after destemming, the grapes are crushed by foot. Following alcoholic fermentation, the wine is divided into four parts, one of which is destined for aging in new oak barrels for a year.
