Domenico Clerico's is one of the most important names when it comes to the great modernists of Barolo. Located in Monforte d'Alba, the winery was founded in 1976 by Domenico Clerico, who, with the strong support of his wife Giuliana Viberti, decided to elevate the family's agricultural activity, which until then had been devoted to the contribution of grapes to the social winery and the cultivation of other types of fruit. In the following years, the couple took over several prestigious vineyards in the Barolo area, expanding the estate's holdings. The production philosophy that has always distinguished the family is based on the concept that quality is born in the vineyard, so the work between the rows is a fundamental aspect of the estate. Sadly, Domenico passed away in 2017 and today it is his wife Giuliana Viberti Clerico who carries on the winery's tradition together with the skilled winemaker Oscar Arrivabene.

The Domenico Clerico estate covers 26 hectares of vineyards, spread between the towns of Monforte d'Alba, Serralunga d'Alba and Monchiero and conducted following organic farming principles. In particular, among the prestigious MGAs the winery can boast are Ginestra, Mosconi and Baudana. Undisputed ruler of the vineyard park can only be Nebbiolo, flanked by Barbera and Dolcetto, other traditional Langhe grapes. The rows are located at altitudes between 320 and 410 meters above sea level and rest on soils consisting mainly of fossil Marne di Sant'Agata. Winemaking takes place in steel while a modernist approach is followed for aging the Barolos through the use of oak barriques, a good percentage of which are new. The wines are finally bottled without undergoing any filtration.

Domenico Clerico's Barolos express the powerful and profound character of the commune of Monforte d'Alba, skillfully interpreted through a modernist slant. Also modern is the style of the labels, custodians of red wines of great caliber. Prominent among them are the four Barolo crus: 'Pajana', 'Ciabot Mentin' 'Aeroplanservaj' and 'Percristina'.
