Enlaire

Enlaire represents the purpose of life, even before being a company, of a young Catalan couple, Lluís Raventós and Mar Capdevila. Both coming from a family-built agricultural background, they decide to recover the ancient abandoned winery that was located within the Cal Gori farm and in 2016 they launched their winemaking project. Driven by the need to revalue the territory and some agricultural practices, they begin to vinify the best plots around the estate, with the intent of creating authentic and expressive wines.

Enlaire Vins - Celler de Costers extends over a total area of 25 hectares, of which only 4.3 are dedicated to the vineyard. The plots are located in the territory of Penedès, the area of the Catalonia region that has risen to the role of leader in Iberian sparkling wine production worldwide. On the hilly complexes that rise along the Mediterranean coast between Barcelona and Tarragona, at the western foothills of the Serra d’Ordal, the typical native grape varieties of the area find their home: Xarel-lo primarily and then Macabeu among the white grapes, while the black grapes are represented by Garnacha Negra, Tempranillo, Monastrell, and Trepat. They are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, through completely manual operations and with total respect for the natural environment: cover cropping between the rows to preserve biodiversity and rejection of systemic treatments. Despite a climate that can easily be torrid, the management follows the dry farming model, that is, without irrigation, trying to make the most of the benefits of the sea breezes that sneak in from the southeast, rising along the course of the Llobregat, the stream that borders the western areas of Barcelona. The terraces that follow the soft lines of the gentle hills stretch at an altitude of 380 meters above sea level, essentially composed of sandy soils distributed over a substrate of limestone and sandstone. The harvest follows the maturation trend of each individual variety and the grapes are collected with limited yields in 18-kilo crates.

The vinifications of Enlaire Vins - Celler de Costers take place in the ancient Masia Cal Gori, according to a additive-free winemaking approach and following the work of only indigenous yeasts for the fermentations. The production process is personally monitored with care at every step and concerns the different types of wines, from reds to whites, including sparkling wines, amounting annually to a modest quantity of around 3,000 bottles.
