Eric Forest
The Domaine Eric Forest is located in Vergisson, in the heart of the Mâconnais area, south of the Burgundy region. This is an area experiencing significant qualitative growth, which for several years has been at the center of renewed interest for the production of excellent quality wines that have, however, maintained still accessible prices. It is a classic family estate, which can rely on the experience of eight generations of vignerons, who have contributed to sediment a traditional savoir-faire that still today guides the estate's choices. The property is managed by Eric Forest and can count on a series of prized parcels with many old vines of particular value, located in the territories of Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, and Mâcon-Vergisson.
The area is dominated by the presence of the rocky reliefs of Solutré and Vergisson, which emblematically characterize the profile of the territory with their altitudes of about 500 meters above sea level. These are very ancient rocks, over 200 million years old, consisting of remains of fossilized coral sedimentations that have resisted the elements until today. The soils are predominantly composed of limestone banks, very similar to those found in Côte d’Or, with the presence of Jurassic marl and gravel, which makes the soils particularly draining and very suitable for high-quality viticulture. The climate is mild and sunny. The bright exposures of the vines are always well-ventilated, ensuring healthy and perfectly ripe grapes, and are located at an altitude between 200 and 300 meters with exposures facing east and southeast.
The Domaine is managed by Eric according to the teachings received from his father, who left a deep knowledge of the nature of the places and the principles of biodynamics. All the work between the rows is carried out manually in an extremely rigorous and precise manner, starting from winter pruning. The vines are encouraged to go deep with their roots in search of water and nutrients. The harvests are carried out
