Cotarella is undoubtedly one of the most important names on the Italian wine scene, ever since the brothers Renzo and Riccardo transformed the small family vineyard into the renowned Falesco Winery in 1979. The generational transition in 2016 saw the birth of Famiglia Cotarella, the label that condenses the passion handed down from the brothers to the Cotarella 'sisters': Dominga, daughter of Riccardo, and Enrica and Marta, daughters of Renzo. Their enthusiasm in managing the production of each estate is based on an important awareness of Goethean memory: 'what you have received from your fathers, win it back if you really want to own it'. In addition to the Falesco estates in Upper Lazio, the Cotarella adventure has thus been followed in the territories south of Umbria, not far from the Orvietano region of Latium and the Tuscan Maremma.

The Cotarella family estates in Umbria are located in the upper Tiber Valley, in the municipalities of Montecchio and Baschi. The approximately 260 hectares of vineyards extend over a hillside south of Orvieto, where the loamy and loamy-clayey soils and the great variety of microclimates, mitigated by the presence of the Paglia stream and Lake Corbara, accommodate the Vermentino, Verdicchio, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Merlot vines. The same territory hosts an experimental vineyard, where more than 25 grape varieties have found a home, from Nero d'Avola to Primitivo, from Malbech to Tannat, passing through Carmènere.

The Cotarella family seems to testify, even at the evidence of the recent generational transition, how much the lymph that feeds its courageous choices is the constant desire to undertake new paths and new challenges, oriented towards the creation of a holistic experience in the world of wine. Like Renzo and Riccardo, Dominga, Marta and Enrica are also demonstrating the ability to pave the way for innovative projects and new collaborations, well aware of their roots. Cotarella has shown the ability to reinvent himself in labels that well express this passion and curiosity, as well as the dedication to study and research that has always characterised the family's production.
