The Fattoria di Lamole winery is a historic establishment that, while during the 20th century it contributed to enhancing the value of the extraordinary characteristics of the Lamole micro-terroir in the town of Greve in Chianti, today it plays an important role in protecting and preserving the area's ancient heritage of vineyards. It was founded back in 1870 by the notary Giovanni Socci and achieved success first under the guidance of his son Carlo, one of the founders in 1924 of the Chianti Classico Consortium, and then under that of Giorgio, who led the family business to receive an award in 1956 as the best large specialised winery in Tuscany. Since the early 2000s, it has been managed by Paolo Socci, Giorgio's son, who managed to recover the old family vineyards, which had been greatly reduced in size after the elimination of sharecropping in the 1970s.

Today the Fattoria di Lamole is a magical and fascinating place where time seems to stand still and the owner Paolo Socci is the guardian and historical memory of the most traditional and authentic soul of Chianti Classico. The estate is located at an altitude of 600 metres, on a natural terrace along the slopes of Mount San Michele. The 16 remaining hectares of vineyards are surrounded by about 200 hectares of forest and pastures used for sheep farming. Thanks to extensive restoration work, the vineyards are still laid out on terraces, divided by stone walls for a total length of 7 kilometres, just like in the past. There are still a few hectares of Sangioveto vines planted with free standing vines and trained using the ancient alberello di Lamole system, which were planted in the 1920s by agronomist Livio Piccini after the phylloxera disaster. Only the best grapes, from the oldest, most inaccessible and suitable vineyards, are allocated to the estate's own production, while the others are delivered to the social cooperative winery.

The wines of the Fattoria di Lamole faithfully reflect the most authentic peculiarities of the Lamolese territory, mainly due to the composition of limestone and marl, and the wealth of iron and manganese. They have elegant and subtle aromas of violets and red flowers, with light earthy and woody hints, and a full and vibrant taste, with an energetic minerality. They are vinified in steel tanks with long ageing in barriques that are used several times. This results in a small production of great territorial typicality, testifying to the historical excellence of Chianti Classico.
