The Frecciarossa winery was established back in 1919, when Mario Odero, a Genoese coal merchant, decided to take over an old 19th-century estate in the municipality of Casteggio in Oltrepò Pavese. The name actually stemmed from an oversight made during registration; the toponym Fraccia Rossa, translated "red landslide," in reference to the clay soil with iron veins in the area, was misspelled as Frecciarossa, thus christening the name of the winery and the hill. The project then continued with his son Giorgio Odero, who, once he had graduated in agriculture and learned all the secrets of the trade between Burgundy and Champagne, decided after the war to export the wines for the first time, selling the first glass bottles (which was unusual at the time) to the American market. The story restarted in 1990 when Margherita Radici Odero, guided by the same tenacity and resourcefulness as her father Giorgio, took the reins of the company alongside the great winemaker Franco Bernabei. These years saw a real restructuring and modernization of the winery, culminating in the new millennium when Gianluca Scaglione and his daughter Valeria entered the scene.

Frecciarossa works its vineyards organically with an eye to the environment and biodiversity. Attention to detail, long tradition, and environmental protection have resulted in high-quality bottles that transparently and sincerely express the terroir of origin. Pinot Noir, the great red Burgundy grape that has proliferated in these lands for more than 150 years, is the winery's prince, flanked by Rhine Riesling and native grape varieties such as Croatina, Barbera and Uva Rara. The soils, rich in vitality, are clayey in origin, with percentages of marl and iron, and are home to 21 hectares under vine, surrounded by fruit trees, vegetable gardens, fields and farm animals (cows, goats and bees).

Frecciarossa wines faithfully tell the story of the land where the vines have their roots. Pinot Noir is the family's most cherished grape, domesticated as far back as Giorgio's time and now the spearhead of production. Wines direct, territorial and unadulterated that hide in every sip a long story made of feeling, love and passion.
