Gatinois

Champagne Gatinois is located in the prestigious territory of Grand Cru de Aÿ, among the most renowned in the region, and has been producing great wines for twelve generations. The philosophy of the Maison is summed up in the desire to transparently highlight the characteristics of an exceptional terroir. The origins of the Domaine date back to 1696, when the family was already involved in viticulture in the Champagne region. However, it wasn't until 1921 that the first bottles bearing the name Maison Gatinois appeared on the label. Since 2010, the estate has been managed by Louis Cheval, who after a professional career in geology decided to dedicate himself to the family business and today oversees both vineyard and cellar management.

The Domaine is located near Aÿ, a small village of ancient Roman origins, which already hosted vineyards 2000 years ago. The wines from this area were already renowned in the Middle Ages, and today the municipal territory is classified as Grand Cru, confirming the excellence of its historic production. Aÿ is just a few kilometers from Épernay, in the heart of Champagne, right at the meeting point between Vallée de Marne, Côtes des Blancs, and Montagne de Reims. Due to its particular pedoclimatic conditions, the area is particularly suited for the cultivation of Pinot Noir, but Chardonnay also expresses itself at high qualitative levels, highlighting a remarkable aromatic intensity. The soils are composed of layers of limestone resting on a clay subsoil, capable of retaining water and providing structure and power to the wines.

The Gatinois estate consists of numerous parcels, mostly located in prestigious lieu dits of the hilly area of Aÿ: Chaufour, Cheuzelle, la Croix Courcelles, le Han, Valnon, Vauregnier, Chatillon, Bonotte. The vineyards are managed with extreme care, with almost exclusively manual processes, as if it were a small family garden, and in full respect of the environmental ecosystem. The harvests are carried out manually with grape selection directly in the vineyard. The pressings are gentle, and the musts from each individual parcel are vinified separately to
