Glenmorangie produces one of the most "Mediterranean" Single Malts from the Nordic and windy Scottish Highlands. Located by the sea in Tain, in the Dornoch Bay, it is surrounded by an ideal microclimate for the maturation of whisky. The distillery is universally known for the special "giraffe neck" form of its stills, 5,14 meters high, the highest in Scotland, and built on the model of the first two purchased by the company back in 1843, when a former brewery was converted into the distillery by William Matheson.

The stills, particularly high, allow the production of a soft and delicate distillate, despite the use of relatively hard water, rich in calcium and magnesium, from the neighboring Tarlogie springs, flowing constantly at 4 ° C and where is sampled and checked at least twice a week. However, it is in the stone warehouse, next to the distillery, where Glenmorangie acquires its multiple characteristics, thanks to the skillful work with special casks of different origins. Currently the distillery it uses 6 types: Nectar d'Or (Sauternes casks), La Santa (Sherry casks), Finealta (American white oak barrels and sherry casks), Sonnalta PX (Pedro Ximenez casks), ArtIn (barrels of Super Tuscan) and Quinta Ruban (Port barrels).

The distillery has a careful selection of raw materials, all of high quality, and usually only one-third of the distillate is brought to maturity by the legendary "16 Men of Tain", became today 90 for production requirements. Among its excellent products, the Single Malt 18 years has won the gold medal as Best Highland Single Malt in 2015 at the World Whiskies Awards. Those of Glenmorangie are Highland Single Malts that reminding you the sea: the warm Mediterranean.
