Habitation Velier
Habitation Velier is the name of an ambitious project focused on the selection of artisanal rums, for which the classification of Pure Single Rum has been coined. This term refers to a distillate produced from sugar cane or molasses using a traditional pot still, that is, through discontinuous distillation.
The Habitation Velier rum line is born from the collaboration between Luca Gargano, one of the world's leading rum experts and the soul of the distributing company Velier, and some of the best artisanal distilleries in the Caribbean. All rums born from this collaboration are bottled at full strength, as they come out of the barrel, that is, 'barrel proof', without undergoing filtration, without the addition of caramel or other additives not derived from distillation. This gives rise to some white rums that express the quintessence of Caribbean traditions in sugar cane distillation and vintage rums aged entirely in the tropical climate of the production sites. The aim is to bring to life and group together in a single excellence of rum.
Currently, the Habitation Velier rum line includes distillates from the Worthy Park and Hampden distilleries in Jamaica, from Rhum Rhum in Marie Galante, from Foursquare in Barbados, and from Port Mourant in British Guiana, where the last wooden 'wooden double retort pot still' in the world is still in operation. This is a range of rums that is continuously enriched and is introducing the world to the great expression of Pure Single Rum, the true and artisanal expression of the Caribbean.
