Herradura
Herradura is a historic distillery from the state of Jalisco, in Mexico, located in Amatitlán, near the town of Tequila. The legend says that in 1861, the founder of the distillery, Feliciano Romo, found a horseshoe on the ground and, considering it a good omen, built the distillery at the exact point of renewal, choosing the horseshoe as his symbol.
Since its foundation, the Herradura distillery has fully and independently managed the entire production process of Tequila, without using additives, colorants, or sweeteners. The blue agave plantations are also owned by the distillery; from here come the precious piñas, the hearts of the plants, from which, after cooking and fermentation, the pulque is obtained, a juice to be distilled. This is how white Tequila is obtained, which may be aged in oak barrels. The origin of this maturation practice is attributed to the wife of the founder Feliciano Romo who produced the first Tequila Reposado in 1874. Taking advantage of this insight, in 1962 the first Tequila Anejo was also produced, aged for two years in barrel.
The Tequilas of Herradura are characterized by a classic and traditional profile and a rich and elegant aromatic spectrum. They are all produced from 100% blue tequilana agave and represent, in their various expressions, a benchmark of excellence worldwide. The excellence of the most famous Mexican distillate from 1861 to today.
