I Tre Monti - Da Foschetta

Lorenzo Montesi is the mastermind and the responsible person of the small agricultural company I Tre Monti, located around the agriturismo Da Foschetta, which he manages together with his mother. After graduating in history, he decided in 2008 to personally take care of the family property, located in the area of San Giovanni, in the territory of Matelica, at the foot of Mount San Vicino. His family has owned several hectares of land for more generations, cultivated over the centuries by various families of sharecroppers and farmers, the last of which was that of Antonio and his wife Foschetta, known locally for her ability to ward off the evil eye. Today, from almost three hectares of vineyard, an excellent Verdicchio di Matelica is born, produced in small quantities with the help of the Belisario winery.

The name I Tre Monti comes from the fact that the family properties are structured around three farms, identifiable by three adjacent hilly locations: Acquaviva, Camerino, and San Marcello. The vineyards are concentrated in the first farm and host, in addition to the Verdicchio, also other varieties such as Incrocio Manzoni, Sangiovese, and Merlot. Only the Verdicchio is vinified and bottled, giving rise to a label dedicated to Monsignor Luigi Pettinelli, the former owner of the lands, between the end of the 19th century and the 1930s, as well as the maternal uncle of Lorenzo Montesi. Monsignor Pettinelli was a missionary who, between one mission and another, would return to his property to take the wine that the sharecroppers produced every year. In the last years of his life, blind and old, able to read and write only in Braille, he continued to dedicate himself to winemaking.

The Verdicchio di Matelica Caecus, the only wine produced by the I Tre Monti winery, is dedicated to this personality and for this reason the label is also written in Braille. It was the first wine label designed to be read by the blind, but this distinction is not the only merit of the Verdicchio from the I Tre Monti agricultural company. It is indeed a white wine that preserves a great territorial typicity and that
