Ichiro's

Ichiro's is the smallest distillery in Japan, equipped with only two copper stills imported from Scotland and located among the hills of the city of Chichibu. It has become famous worldwide for its craft production of high-quality whisky. Its international recognition, marked by prestigious awards and praise from major newspapers, such as Forbes and The Guardian, has led enthusiasts around the world to invest significant amounts to purchase the rare bottles from this distillery.

Ichiro's was founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto, a member of a family of sake producers since the 1600s. Today, 14 employees work at the distillery, producing only 90,000 bottles a year. The raw material used is barley sourced from Norfolk, Scotland, and Germany, which creates full-bodied and powerful distillates compared to other Japanese whiskies. The maturation barrels, about 4,000, come from Portugal, Spain, France, and the United States. The distillery is well aware of the key to their success and the difference compared to the big brands: “If we were only interested in producing balanced and light whiskies, we would inevitably compete with Suntory and Nikka. But we are trying to do the opposite: to make whisky with a style that is not necessarily balanced or immediate.”

Ichiro's whiskies are concentrated, rich, full-bodied, and structured, born from very rigorous and manual techniques, executed with great spirit of perfectionism. The few bottles available on the market have become precious collector's items, sought after worldwide. These are great distillates to drink and savor during important moments, among the best expressions of Japanese whisky.
