Jean Marc Dreyer

Within the Alsatian municipality of Rosheim, 25 kilometers southwest of Strasbourg, Jean-Marc Dreyer primarily offers white wines macerated on the skins, a practice uncommon in the region. However, his talent and ability to experiment allow this artisanal vigneron to rewrite conventional standards, with genuine bottles of character that faithfully reflect his spontaneous production spirit. After completing his oenology studies at the Obernai school, Jean-Marc gained experience with Patrick Piuze, one of the most renowned and appreciated artisanal winemakers of Chablis. In 2003, he took over the management of the family Domaine, immediately embracing a holistic biodynamic vision.

The Domaine Jean-Marc Dreyer consists of 6 hectares of vineyards, spread across 25 different plots. The plants benefit from clay-limestone soils, which confer character and finesse to the wines. Following the principles of biodynamic agriculture, Jean-Marc cultivates some of the traditional varieties of the area, such as Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Sylvaner, Muscat, and Pinot Noir. The harvests are carried out by hand, and in order to preserve the structure and fertility of the soil, soil cultivation is done with the help of a horse. In the cellar, fermentations occur spontaneously thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts, and the subsequent aging periods mainly take place in oak barrels, although the wood influence is perfectly balanced across all his labels. Throughout the entire processing, no additives are used, and the use of clarifications, filtrations, and sulfiting is excluded, in order not to distort the most authentic attributes of the wines.

With these premises, Jean-Marc Dreyer produces single-variety labels capable of expressing the most intimate character of the different grape varieties. Within his production, the 'Origin' line, dedicated to white wines macerated on the skins, plays a significant role. Energetic and profound interpretations, of great expressive purity.
