Kensei

Kensei is a Japanese distilling reality, whose name means in Italian “pure river”. It is a distillery located between the Kaganawa prefecture, whose capital is Yokohama, and the splendid mountains surrounding the city of Nagano. Here, the days pass marked by the rhythm of habits, and the distillery team works with passion and dedication to create a particular product, the Blended Whisky. A label that is the result of a selection of lots of Whisky already ready, aged in small oak barrels for different periods, blended together to merge the different original souls into a single product. Since the 1920s, in fact, especially in the Osaka prefecture, it was customary to dedicate oneself to the distillation of barley malt, producing products of excellent quality. Since then, the path of Japanese Whisky began a slow but steady rise, also thanks to the emergence of several distilleries that, between the 1970s and 1980s, in addition to dedicating themselves to the creation of local spirits, looked to the development of Scottish Whisky with interest, trying to grasp its most intimate secrets, so as to keep pace with the latest innovations and techniques. Arriving around the year 2000, we reach a truly historic date: in 2001, in fact, a Japanese Whisky was elected by the World Whisky Awards committee as the best product in the world. A true watershed moment, marking the transition in which the student, Japan, surpasses the master, Scotland.
