Krutzler
Krutzler is a family-run Austrian winery, now in its fifth generation, with roots in the fertile region of Burgenland, in the southern part of Austria. The winemaking activity has been practiced in this area since 1895, with the aim of enhancing the territory, well beyond national borders. Reinhold Krutzler, supported by his wife Melanie, is now at the helm of the winery, after numerous field experiences around the world, including France, Italy, and South Africa, he answered the call of his land, joined his father and brother, and began to focus on quality and local varieties.
Weingut Krutzler today owns about 12 hectares of vineyards, distributed between the areas of Eisenberg and Deutsch-Schutzen, the beating heart of the Burgenland wine region, characterized by gentle green hills, altitudes reaching 400 meters, and a relatively mild climate, refreshed by the constant breezes blowing from Styria, essential for giving the wines produced here, an important acidic backbone. The undisputed strengthof this production area, however, lies entirely in the morphological formation of the territory, rich in iron, with the presence of slate, materials that provide unparalleled conditions for viticulture. The wines that result from this are characterized by a disarming minerality, it seems that the iron present in the soil literally invades the palate, building tense, concise sips with extraordinary earthy nuances.
The wines produced by the Krutzler winery present themselves as authentic and refined ambassadors of the terroir of origin, where the organoleptic elegance reigns supreme, amplified by a sip that embodies both finesse and richness. Here, the harvest is exclusively done by hand and yields are intentionally kept low, to adhere as closely as possible to the concept of quality, which the Krutzler family has always relied on. The varieties that reign supreme here are Welschriesling, Blaufrankisch, and Zweigelt, which are vinified in steel tanks, while for the aging of the reds, small and large barrels are used, based on the character that one wants to amplify. In summary, those of Krutzler are wines that tell the story of a suggestive landscape that has been historically suited to viticulture, capable of convincing both the most devoted palates of the type and those who are more eager to discover it.
