The La Mesma winery is the brainchild of a mother who, not willing to accept the idea of having a house without a single vine in the small town of Monterotondo, near Gavi, decided in 2001 to plant the vines together with her daughters. The passion of Paola, Francesca and Anna immediately made its way through the hectares that slowly expanded and in 2004 became a fully operational winery, with the purchase of the Bella Alleanza estate. It was no longer just a hobby in the vineyard, nor has it ever been, because the desire to learn, the commitment and the union of forces immediately took over, allowing the three Rosina sisters to embark on a completely new adventure among the vines.

Gavi is the most distinguished representative to which La Mesma gives considerable space in its broadest interpretations, approaching the processing of Cortese grapes in the most original ways, unconventional and free from preconceptions. The winery has been run entirely organically since 2016, using "gentle" farming practices with a constant presence in the vineyard, without weeding, chemical fertilisers or antibiotics. This preserves the longevity and biodiversity of the vines. Generally, the grapes, from vines up to 50 years old, are harvested by hand, undergo soft pressing and are vinified in stainless steel tanks. The method of refinement varies according to the style desired, but is generally carried out in steel for a period of more than 6 months. For the sparkling wines a re-fermentation in the bottle is carried out, while, for the particular case of "Indi", the Gavi is produced by alcoholic fermentation by means of indigenous yeasts obtained from pied de cuve and its fermentation is spontaneous.

La Mesma's white wines stand out because they display all the characteristics of Cortese grapes through Gavi with very different personalities but of identical origin. It is the passion for the land that lies at the heart of the creativity of these three ladies. From Genoa they approached the rural landscapes of the Alto Monferrato area almost by chance, eventually developing a philosophy of life that has led them to firmly preserve the environment also through the use of a photovoltaic system that makes the entire winery self-sufficient. These are the thoughts that arise around this landscape full of woods, insects and wild animals which help us understand what really counts in life and which must be preserved at all costs.
