La Monacesca

The La Monacesca winery is located in the municipality of Matelica, in the province of Macerata. It is situated in the high Valle del Lesino, surrounded by mountains that inhibit the access of sea breezes, creating a climate that is absolutely unique and different from the rest of the area, with large daily and seasonal temperature variations that, from a quantitative point of view, make grape production difficult, but from a qualitative point of view, can provide grapes of the highest level, from which good and territorial wines are born.

The La Monacesca winery owes its name to a small group of Farfa monks who, in the 10th century, to escape the barbarian invasions in Northern Italy, took refuge in this valley, building a small church and a convent that today, well restored, are part of the company village. In 1966, Casimiro Cifola acquired this estate and began to plant vines: primarily Verdicchio. In 1973, the first Verdicchio branded La Monacesca was released on the market and immediately gained great success. Aldo, Casimiro's son, joined his father in managing the winery in 1982 and began planting othergrape varieties such as Sangiovese, Merlot, and Chardonnay. Today Aldo is a forge of new ideas and innovations, carrying on the family business with passion and liveliness.

The goal of the La Monacesca winery has always been to produce unique wines, with aromas and flavors of bygone times, that could tell the magic of a land rich in history and tradition. The ancient expression of the Verdicchio di Matelica shines with liveliness and great dynamism in the glass, on the nose and on the palate, offering unique and satisfying sensations.
