La Sorga
The La Sorga winery was founded in 2008 by Anthony Tortul after several years of traveling through the countryside of southern France. Right in Vias, in the Languedoc-Roussillon region near the Pyrenees mountains, Anthony decided to start working as a "negociant", buying grapes from as many as 40 different sites to then vinify them in his own winery. The varieties selected by the young French star had to meet certain principles; they had to be healthy and pure, coming from ancient and indigenous vines, but above all grown according to the principles of organic or biodynamic agriculture. Thus, La Sorga has a surprising variety of grapes: Terret Blanc, Terret Gris, Cot, Sauvignon, Morvedre, Cinsault, Aramon, Grenache, Muzac, Muscat, and many others, coming from different areas. The idea is to respect the territory and express all its nuances. For this reason, even in the winery, Anthony operates in a minimally invasive way with spontaneous fermentations using indigenous yeasts in old oak barrels or small open containers, followed by aging in cement tanks or barrels.wood.
In a territory so mistreated and consumed by productions focused on quantity, Tortul's talent has stood out. A work that begins with in-depth research of genuine grapes from small realities and materializes with small ancestral and artisanal productions, which involve spontaneous vinifications and the absence of invasive processes such as clarifications, filtrations, stabilizations, and the addition of sulfites.
With such a varied mosaic of vines and grapes, there are as many as 30 La Sorga wines. Sincere, immediate, straightforward, and candid expressions, endowed with energy, freshness, and strength. Made even more fascinating and captivating by the original and fun labels created by the winery, with designs reminiscent of famous characters, such as Chuck Norris and Jean Claude Van Damme, or historical figures like the barbarian Attila, as well as humorous cartoons, famous paintings, animal caricatures, abstract landscapes, etc. In short, there is something for everyone!
