La Source
La Source is a young winery from Valle d'Aosta, which has managed to establish itself in the regional landscape thanks to the excellent quality of its wines. It was founded in 2003 by a group of local winemakers who decided to combine their skills and energies to create a common project capable of enhancing their land. Thanks to the experience passed down from generation to generation, the production quickly reached a high quality and La Source has established itself among the most interesting companies in the Valley. Today the winery is owned by the Celi-Cuc family and is personally managed by Stefano Celi, who since 2005 has decided to dedicate himself completely to viticulture.
The estate is located in Saint-Pierre, a few kilometers from Aosta. The central area of the Valley is very suited for viticulture, thanks to a particular orographic configuration. Unlike almost all alpine valleys, which have a north-south orientation, in the central area the Valle d'Aosta is oriented along the east-west axis. The northern slope is exposed to the sun all day and allows the cultivation of vines even at high altitudes. The climate is mild and always breezy, with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night. The soils are stony, poor in organic matter, and very draining, perfect for developing high-quality viticulture with low yields.
The property extends over approximately 6.5 hectares, divided into many small plots, located in the most suited areas of the Valley: Quart, Aosta, Sarre, Saint-Pierre, Aymavilles, and Villeneuve. Among the rows, there are the main historical grape varieties of the area, the indigenous Cornalin, Petit Rouge, Vien de Nus, and the international varieties Petite Arvine, Chardonnay, Traminer, Müller-Thurgau, Moscato, Gamay, and Syrah. The careful selection of the best bunches allows for the harvest of perfectly ripe grapes with rich aromas. The vinifications take place in the modern Bussan Dessous winery in Saint-Pierre, equipped with the most advanced technologies, dedicated to a production capable of expressing the authentic face of the terroir.
