La Tognazza
La Tognazza was born from an intuition of the great actor Ugo Tognazzi, who in the mid-1960s decided to purchase an estate in the countryside of Velletri with vineyards and olive trees. It was a way to give vent to his great passion for food and wine and to indulge in the convivial pleasure of gathering around a table. The oil, wine, and vegetables produced on the estate were the ingredients for evenings with friends and the menus he personally prepared, thanks to his great love for cooking. La Tognazza was a sort of refuge from work commitments where he could find peace and tranquility in contact with nature.
The estate was a true family agriturismo open to friends and dedicated to the pure pleasure of the table. After Ugo Tognazzi's death, his wife Franca Bettoja began to develop the idea of transforming La Tognazza into a real commercial business, to produce oil, wine, jams, and other natural products. The project was taken over by his son Gian Marco, who decided to direct production towards quality wines with astraightforward and territorial. La Tognazza is located in Velletri, but the vineyards, in addition to the historic family property, are also cultivated in the area of the Castelli Romani and in Chianti. The estate has thus been enriched with other particularly suited lands, which have allowed for the expansion and diversification of the wine range, without altering the original face of the company, still very much linked to the figure of the founder.
The management of the estate is in the hands of Gian Marco Tognazzi, who, with the consultancy of Alessandro Capria, has been able to create a unique reality in its kind. Among the rows, Chardonnay, Vermentino, Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah are cultivated, giving rise to a series of labels with names inspired by the most famous films starring Ugo Tognazzi and in particular the unforgettable saga of Amici Miei. The wines aim to express a cheerful, original, unconventional, and jovial lifestyle, inspired by the character of Ugo Tognazzi. They are labels with an immediate face, of great pleasantness, which refer to an idea of genuine wine, linked to fun and thepleasure of being together.
