Levante Spirits
Levante Spirits was born from the meeting of Fabio Mascaretti and Enzo Brini during a university Master’s program in Florence. A project based on the pragmatic and entrepreneurial ideas of the two young talents, inspired by the models of the Levante and those trade routes that sailors and explorers traveled to seek unknown materials, elusive spices, and new stimuli. In the same way, Fabio and Enzo enter the world of distillates, particularly in that of Gin, driven by the wind of discovery, retracing ancient routes and creating new recipes. Their innovative production imprint is realized with the creation of distillates and liqueurs with an original and unique taste, the result of a desire for continuous experimentation that draws on Italy's historical and cultural heritage.
The first distillate produced was the Old Sailor Coffe, a “sea spirit,” as the company nicknamed it, which condenses all the atmospheres of the Adriatic Sea and is made according to an ancient recipe based on coffee, anise, and Rum. It is said that fishermen drank it hot to benefit from the power of Rum and the strength of coffee, but today Levante Spirits reintroduces it according to tradition as an ingredient for cocktails or to sip neat with ice as an after-dinner drink.
The true success of Levante Spirits, however, is to be attributed to the Ginepraio line, an organic Tuscan Gin produced according to the London Dry method from a discontinuous copper still, called Lapo. Levante Spirits Gin is born from the collaboration with Distilleria Deta and aims to evoke all the richness of Tuscany, the place where all the raw materials come from. Starting from the alcohol produced from Mugello wheat and then the use of 7 botanicals, including juniper, rose, and helichrysum, coming from the Maremma and Chianti hills.
