In fact, for the production of its whiskey, this production company based in Ireland uses wooden barrels from the 6 major continents: Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, North America, and Oceania. This is to pay homage to the families, stories, and journeys of all the Irish who over the centuries have emigrated around the world, exporting their tradition and culture. The project was officially launched in 2021 by childhood friends Tim Herlihy and Neil Sands, and in a short time it managed to first conquer the U.S. market and then the Irish one, subsequently expanding into the rest of Europe. Neil is the expert in creative entrepreneurship while Tim boasts over 10 years of experience in the world of Irish whiskey.
The production of Lost Irish whiskeys involves the combination of the 3 main styles of Irish whiskey: Pot Still, Malt, and Grain, the first for bring creaminess and spicy sensations, the Malt for fruity notes, and finally the Grain for its sweetness. The distillation process consists of a triple distillation, aimed at enhancing the smooth and enveloping character of the distillate. For the subsequent aging phase, wooden barrels from as many as 6 continents are used, specifically: South African ex-brandy barrels, Japanese Mizunara oak barrels, European ex-sherry oak barrels, Australian Tawny barrels, Colombian ex-rum barrels, American ex-bourbon oak barrels, and barrels from the Caribbean ex-rum. The combination of the characteristics of each container is the basis of the exceptional complexity and character of Lost Irish whiskeys.
