Faccinelli Luca
Luca Faccinelli is a young winemaker who cultivates vines in Valtellina and produces wines with an artisanal character, particularly appreciated by enthusiasts for their typically territorial profile. The estate consists of terraced vineyards, located in the Chiuro area, which perfectly represent the tradition of mountain viticulture, characterized by demanding manual labor and a lot of effort. His story is one of a return to the origins and to his homeland. After university studies and a brilliant career, Luca decided to completely change his life. He left his job to dedicate himself to the vineyard with the desire to produce wines that can faithfully represent the territory.
Valtellina is one of the most important areas of Lombard viticulture and one of the most famous terroirs of the Alpine region. Here, the vine has been present for centuries, thanks to particular pedoclimatic conditions that favor its development. Unlike the vast majority of alpine valleys, which cut through the chain descending from the peaks to the plain with a north-south orientation, Valtellina develops along the east-west axis. This orographic peculiarity allows for the northern slope to be exposed to the sun all day long. Despite the altitude, the optimal sunlight allows the vine to fully ripen the grapes. The climate is also influenced by the nearby Lake Como, which, with its breezes, keeps the temperatures always mild.
Valtellina is the kingdom of the Nebbiolo grape, locally called chiavennasca. The noble red grape has found among the mountains an ideal terroir, where it can express itself at excellent qualitative levels. The soils are characterized by a significant presence of gravel, they are shallow, and the vines practically rest on the bedrock. The cultivable areas have been painstakingly torn from the mountain by building small terraces with dry stone walls. The vineyards of Luca Faccinelli are cultivated at an altitude between 400 and 700 meters above sea level and also include some prized parcels of old vines, a precious heritage of the historical memory of Valtellinese viticulture.Valtellinese. The wines are straightforward, tense, and vertical, characterized by a fresh and savory profile.
