Marie Courtin

The Champagne House Marie Courtin is a small artisanal reality located in Polisor, a few kilometers west of Celles-Sur-Ource, in the heart of the Côte des Bars region, the southernmost area of the famous Appellation, always synonymous with charm and allure. It is a family-owned estate that expresses artisanal savoir-faire, producing a range of labels particularly appreciated by enthusiasts in search of the typical taste of the terroir. Unlike the large Maisons, which manage vineyards in all areas of the region and aim to produce wines that replicate the classic style of the brand every year, the champagnes of the vignerons highlight the personality of a single area, enhancing the nuances of the terroir.

The House was founded in the early 2000s when Dominique Moreau decided to dedicate himself to viticulture, starting from a family property of just over two hectares. Due to its geographical position, the Aube region has slightly higher average temperatures compared to the Côte de Blanc, the Vallée de la Marne, and the Montagne de Reims. These conditions have proven particularly suitable for the cultivation of Pinot Noir, which reaches perfect ripeness. The climate is characterized by the presence of a dual influence. The continental component manifests itself in cold winters, hot summers, and significant temperature variations. However, this climatic regime is mitigated by oceanic influences, which tend to soften temperatures and bring the necessary humidity for optimal rainfall.

The area of Polisor, and more generally the Côte des Bars, differs from the rest of the Champagne region also due to the composition of the soils. In this area, the presence of calcareous-clay marls prevails, more similar to the soils of Côte d'Or or Chablis. Since the beginning of his activity, Dominique Moreau has decided to manage the vineyards following the principles of biodynamics, using only sulfur, copper, horn manure, silica, and other natural preparations, without resorting to chemical substances. A choice that has led the estate to obtain Demeter and Ecocert certifications. The meticulous conduct in the vineyard allows for the production of healthy and genuine high-quality grapes, which are then vinified with extreme care and attention. The Champagnes Marie Courtin express an extraordinary purity, also thanks to the absence of dosage and a very low use of sulfites.
