Martell
Martell is one of the largest, oldest, and most glorious producers of Cognac, having become, after over 300 years of history, a symbol of luxury and elegance. It was founded in 1715 by a young merchant named Jean Martell and led, after his death, by his wife Rachel Lallemand and their children. In just a few decades, the maison achieved great success, expanding its market worldwide, from England to Indochina. A long history of success and excellent production has consecrated the brand as an everlasting icon of great prestige.
The Maison Martell has developed, throughout its history, an original production method that bears its name, creating a clear stylistic imprint. First, the white wines, obtained from Ugni Blanc, are distilled without yeasts, to favor the lighter, more elegant, and delicate face of the distillate. The white wines come from all the Cognac production regions, with particular attention to the Borderies area, favored by the founder of the distillery for its great aromatic richness of the productions. For the distillation process, traditional ancient copper stills are used, under the supervision of the master distiller. The aging takes place inside oak barrels from the Troncais forest.
The Martell Cognacs are now considered great classics of the type. Alongside the famous Cordon Bleu, the maison's first label, the VS, the VSOP, continuously produced since 1831, and other historic ages, new labels have recently been introduced to the market, a sign of extraordinary vitality while respecting tradition. For three centuries, these distillates have been present on the tables of great political and entertainment personalities, accompanying royal banquets, coronations, and weddings, but also in the homes of more generations of enthusiasts of the most noble and prestigious eau-de-vie of all France.
