Martissima
Martissima was born from the personal and agricultural journey of Marta Venica, whose story has its roots in her childhood spent among the rows of vines in Collio. Growing up surrounded by vineyards, Marta turned that familiarity into a vocation thanks to her degree in Viticulture and Oenology, after which she continued her training through harvests and experiences around the world. After travelling around the world, the time came to return home and build something truly her own. Just one year after completing her studies, she managed her first plot of land and Martissima took shape, a personal project in search of respect for the land and the territory. All this in the heart of the Collio Friulano, among rolling hills, woods and historic vineyards that preserve the memory of time and the strength of native varieties.
In the vineyard and in the cellar, Marta embraces the principles of biodynamics, starting from the idea that grapes are living matter, imbued with a primordial energy that must be preserved and nurtured. The vineyards are chosen for their natural vocation, surrounded by woods and immersed in a balance of biodiversity that makes any chemical shortcuts unnecessary. Permanent grass cover, care for maximum vegetative expansion and respect for natural cycles are the basis of daily work. The soil, rich in organic matter and resting on the famous Collio ponca, is regenerated through circular agriculture: shoots, stalks and pomace become compost, herbal teas and self-produced soil improvers. In the cellar, fermentation is spontaneous, guided by indigenous yeasts, and every intervention is reduced to the bare minimum to let the place speak for itself.
Martissima wines are a sincere reflection of this approach: lively, profound but never overly structured. On the nose and palate, they express a full-bodied yet taut character, permeated by an intense freshness and mineral texture, the unmistakable hallmark of Collio and its ponca soil. Indigenous grape varieties such as Friulano, Ribolla and Malvasia Istriana dominate among the whites, while among the reds, in addition to the local Schioppettino, there are Merlot-based wines, a variety that is very popular in the area. More than just labels, these are sensitive interpretations of a territory, designed to excite today and surprise over time, bringing to the glass the idea that cultivating vines means, first and foremost, cultivating life.
