When Matteo Correggia inherited the family's small farm in 1985, the wine-growing boom was still far away, and on the left side of the Tanaro River fruits and vegetables were grown alongside the vines, from which wines were mostly destined for a select few. Matteo was a young and passionate farmer who decided to believe in his project that he would not give up on for anything in the world: to make and produce wines to remember. It was not an easy choice his, because making quality wines in an undervalued and misunderstood land seemed to most a vain conceit. The reality was harsh, the prejudices numerous, but Matteo was never discouraged by those who said Roero could not give great wines and by those who distrusted his new techniques in the cellar. If today Roero is an established reality in the world wine scene, we can say that much of the credit must be given to Matteo's courage.

Today, the reins of the winery are held with a firm hand by his wife Ornella Costa and young son Giovanni, who are capable of interpreting Matteo's philosophy to perfection, even carrying out a certified organic conversion process. In the cellar, experimentation has never stopped, thanks also to the great expertise of oenologist Luca Rostagno, while in the vineyard there are 80 years-old vines, exclusively manual work and particularly sandy soils, rich in fossils and mineral salts, cared for down to the last detail.

Correggia's range of wines all have high quality and above all strong personality. Impossible not to recommend the Roero Rosso Riserva "Roche d'Ampsej." A winery that today is an undisputed symbol of love, dedication and passion for its territory. Simply the symbolic winery of Roero.
