Enzo Pontoni is a winemaker and owner of the Miani winery located in Buttrio, a village with a strong winemaking tradition and a medieval castle. Enzo is a rather reserved gentleman who intentionally avoids contact with people, preferring to work in the vineyard, both out of necessity due to a lack of personnel and due to his natural inclination. With a past as an employee of a metalworking company, he spent his free time helping his father in the vineyard, expressing his passion inherited from his maternal grandfather. In the early '80s, he decided to shift the production towards better quality. The vines have their own personality, and the Miani winery strives to let them express themselves according to their own will and rhythm.

The Miani Winery, now covering 20 hectares spread between Buttrio, Rosazzo, and Corno di Rosazzo, is situated at 150-300 meters above sea level. The grape varieties Friulano, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Refosco are grown using the Guyot method on soils rich in "ponca friulana", a marl-like substance. Enzo Pontoni describes his agriculture as normal; to avoid diseases in more challenging years, he does not disdain the use of specific products. Since 2000, he does not blend grapes from different vines, aiming to showcase the precise identity of each. Both whites and reds are vinified and aged in French barriques and tonneaux to bring the flavor of the fruit into the bottle. Absolutely no steel is used.

To understand the philosophy of the Miani Winery, consider that Enzo Pontoni has not left his region for over 15 years. During this long period, his labels have become true cult favorites abroad, testifying and speaking primarily for their creator. Because this love for the land can only be expressed with results of great character, strong passion, and powerful personality. The culture of the plant, yielding fruits with a radiant future and great longevity. In the silence of his hills, safely among his rows, sheltered from the clamor of people, Enzo continues his meticulous work, searching among the leaves for the perfect wine to give it a voice, as it deserves.
