Nestarec Milan
Milan Nestarec perfectly embodies the characteristics of the artisan vigneron, who approached the world of wine not only out of passion and love for his land, but because he saw in the vine and its fruits a means to express his ideas and his vision of the world. Wine is not considered a commercial product, but the expression of an inner need. It materializes in the glass through a work that takes on the characteristics of an artistic experience, of an inner search. Contrary to the emphasis often used to exalt the concepts of territory or the qualities of grape varieties, Milan Nestarec places the utmost importance on the work of man, on his gesture, on his way of seeing and interpreting wine from a conceptual and philosophical point of view.
We are at the antipodes of the industrial, mainstream, and mass market vision, which often influences production. Milan wanted to return to the human dimension, to a direct, sincere, and authentic relationship with the elements of nature, without mediation. His estate was created in 2011 and is is located in Velké Bílovice, in the Moravia region, in the southeastern part of the Czech Republic, almost at the border with Austria and Slovakia. It is a rural area, characterized by an agricultural culture still with archaic and traditional contours, which favors a vision of the land as an element of life and not as a resource to be exploited. Milan's viticulture is a child of this territory, still impermeable to purely commercial logics, and of his original and genuine way of understanding wine.
His estate extends over a total area of 8 hectares, in a rather flat area, with gentle hilly reliefs. The climate is typically continental, northern European, with rather cool temperatures and good ventilation. The vineyards are cultivated in the most natural way possible, without the use of chemical products and applying biodynamic practices. Among the rows, the main international varieties find space, which have adapted particularly well to the local microclimate: Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Bianco, Müller Thurgau, Neuburger, Moscato, Pinot Nero, Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. The wines are made with artisanal processes based on minimal intervention in the cellar. Long macerations on the skins are practiced, no sulfites are used, and the wines are bottled without clarification or filtration, to maintain their expressive integrity.
