Montenidoli

Montenidoli, before being a winery, corresponds to a splendid territory at the gates of the medieval city of San Gimignano. The first to plant vines and olive trees on the "mountain of little nests" were the Etruscans, followed by the Romans and then the Knights Templar. The Montenidoli winery was founded in 1965 by Elisabetta Fagiuoli and her husband, the partisan Sergio Muratori. Elisabetta carries with her a family winemaking tradition that dates back to the '600 and with great enthusiasm she has dedicated herself to this territory, respecting its values and tradition.

The Montenidoli vineyard extends over 24 hectares on the slopes of the hill west of San Gimignano.

The lower part of the vines dates back to the Quaternary and is composed of limestone sediments left by the Ligurian Sea that nourish and perfume the white wines, while higher up the soil dates back to the Triassic, it is the oldest in Tuscany and is rich in minerals and precious for red wines. The protection of the vineyards follows the dictates of organic farming: no herbicides or chemical products are used.herbicides or chemical products. The selected grapes are subsequently processed with the aid of only indigenous yeasts. The cultivated varieties are exclusively those native to the area: among them, Vernaccia predominates, accompanied by Trebbiano, Malvasia Bianca, Sangiovese, and Canaiolo.

The wines of Montenidoli fully reflect the complex character and rich nuances of Elisabetta, maintaining a unique rigor and expressive grace. But that's not all: the wines of Montenidoli possess the rare quality of maturing and improving over a long period of time.
