Mustilli

Mustilli is a historic winery from Campania strongly tied to the territory of Sannio and the Falanghina grape. It is precisely this variety, symbolic in these lands, that began the history of the winery; in fact, in 1979 the first bottled Falanghina in the world was produced by the Mustilli family. A production in the name of Campanian tradition, inaugurated and brought to the big screens by Leonardo, considered nowadays as the father and discoverer of this grape, and today shines under the names of his daughters Paola and Anna Chiara who preserve the precious heritage of the estate with a more modern touch, uniting the past and the present into a single thread. Paola takes care of the commercial aspect, while Anna Chiara oversees the vineyards and the processes in the winery, assisted by the winemaker Fortunato Sebastiano. The winemaking and aging facilities were once in the historic center, under the family palace, and even today in these ancient cellars carved into the tuff at about 15 meters deep are found the fine wines that have contributed to the history of thiswinery.

The grapes of the Mustilli winery grow on the hills of Sant’Agata del Goti, a small village at the foot of Mount Taburno, and belong to the long tradition of this territory: Falanghina, primarily, followed by Greco, Aglianico, and Piedirosso. It was Leonardo who, at the moment when these vines were being supplanted by appreciated and renowned international varieties, decided to replant them in the hope of keeping alive the most genuine memory of tradition. The result rewarded him with high-quality wines that still today represent a flag and a symbol of the entire territory.

The Mustilli wines are divided into selections and classic wines. The fresher and more direct wines bear the symbols of the city on their labels: the bridges, the river, the crown, and the cross. Instead, the more intense and decisive ones intertwine the ancient world with the modern one through ancient portraits retouched with the pop symbols of John Lennon, David Bowie, and Annie Lennox. Reds and whites of strong territoriality, endowed with a sincere and lively soul, with a savory, fresh, and Mediterranean sip. Landmarksof the region and all of Italy, definitely to be tried in all their versions!
