Thanks to the success in the soy sector, in the early post-war period Nakano decided to expand its business by starting to produce Shōchū. At that time, there was a great abundance of low-quality raw Shōchū on the market, and Nakano soon distinguished itself thanks to an offering of excellent quality spirits, which was markedly different from the rest of the production. The company began to grow progressively, and in 1958, it also started producing sake, the oldest and most famous fermented beverage in Japan.
