Pacherhof

On the strength of a winemaking tradition dating back thousands of years, the South Tyrolean Pacherhof estate has established itself as one of the leading wineries in the Eisack Valley, an area made up of terraced slopes particularly suited for growing white grape varieties. The Pacherhof estate, devoted to winemaking since at least the 12th century, is located in Varna, a small town near Bressanone, in the heart of the Eisack Valley. In this area sandwiched between the imposing Alpine peaks of South Tyrol, the Hubes family, now represented by Andreas, produces wine according to a vision born of the marriage of tradition and technology. The farm has always been owned by the family, which over the generations has passed down knowledge and winemaking techniques, always with an eye toward the most consistent expression of the terroir.

Pacherhof's 8 hectares of vineyards are located on the western slopes of Novacella and Elvas, at altitudes between 620 and 900 meters above sea level. The area is characterized by significant temperature swings between day and night, a factor that contributes to the freshness and aromatic finesse of the wines. Well aware of these environmental parameters, the estate raises the white grape varieties Riesling Renano, Sylvaner, Kerner, Gewurztraminer, Muller-Thurgau, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and Gruner Veltliner, varietals of Nordic origin that do best in the cool climate of the Eisack Valley. Harvesting is done by hand when the berries have reached the right stage of ripeness, while the wine containers used in the winery range from stainless steel tanks, ideal for enhancing the freshness and varietal aromas of the grapes, to wooden barrels, which can soften the wine's taste and give it additional complexity. Aging then takes place on fine lees in order to accentuate body and expressive breadth.

The production of the family-run Pacherhof winery includes only white wines with a dry and vibrant taste, rich in fruity and mineral sensations that bring back the alpine essence of the Eisack Valley and the characteristics of the different varieties grown.
