Palladino is a family-run winery located in Serralunga d'Alba, in the heart of one of the most viticultural terroirs in all of Piedmont, Langhe. Here, more precisely in Alba, Piero Palladino spent his youth, and after graduating from the oenological institute, he decided to change his path, establishing himself professionally in the textile industry. Wine, however, remained a great passion, which continued to burn in Piero's heart, and which, in 1974, found a way to resurface, when he decided to buy a winery in Serralunga, entrusting its management to his cousin Maurilio. Maurilio, together with the invaluable help of his wife Domenica, runs the winery today, flanked by the new generations of the family, engaged in business development and work in the cellar and vineyard. Tradition, territory and passion are the foundations that characterize the work of Palladino, committed to giving voice to the Langhe terroir, declining it with a new, lively and dynamic spirit.

The vineyards of Palladino extend roughly over an area of 11 hectares planted with vines, scattered within different Langhe appellations. Prominent among these are the parcels within the Barolo production DOCG, which can boast of being able to carry the additional geographical mention on their labels, San Bernardo, Parafada, Ornato and, of course, Serralunga d'Alba. The grapes grown between the rows, and presented exclusively in purity, are primarily Nebbiolo, which is joined by other regional varieties such as Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato, Cortese and Arneis. The subsoil is characterized by a layer composed of clay and limestone, typical of this part of Piedmont. Both in the vineyard and in the winery, the aim is to enhance the individual characteristics of each parcel, striving to obtain grapes of the highest quality and to accompany them on a path of processing in which the hand of man merely gives voice in the bottle to what nature has already achieved during the vintage.

The Palladino winery presents little more than ten labels each year, very territorial, where it is the reds that play the part of bishops of the territory. Among these, of course, the different expressions of Barolo in the range deserve a closer look, to be tasted to try to identify their peculiar differences and compatibility traits.
