Peter in Florence
Peter in Florence is a young reality that has only recently emerged in the world of Gin, quickly establishing itself among the most interesting distilleries in our peninsula. The project was born from the initiative of an English entrepreneur living in Florence, Patrick Hoffer. As a good Anglo-Saxon, he is a great lover of Gin. When he discovered that the best juniper in the world grows spontaneously in Tuscany, a fundamental ingredient of the distillate along with the iris root, which is used in infusions to bind and stabilize the aromas, he decided to open a distillery. It is a small reality specialized exclusively in the production of Gin of excellent quality, capable of competing with the best in the world production.
In 2017, Peter in Florence was founded, whose name is a tribute to Patrick's father, also a great Gin enthusiast. The artisan laboratory is hosted by Podere Castellare di Pelago, owned by Patrizio Pandolfi, a friend and also a business partner of Hoffer. The area is characterized by the presence of a wild and unspoiled nature, where juniper bushes grow lushly, along with many other herbs typical of the local scrubland. In homage to Florence, its territory, and its history, Patrick decided to give the Gin a special face, especially highlighting the iris, a symbol of the city. Among the ingredients, both the root of the plant and the petals of the flower are included, used to add a touch of refined elegance to the bouquet.
In addition to the iris and juniper, the Gin recipe includes the use of twelve other botanicals: fresh bergamot peel, dried lemon peel, rose berries, fresh lavender and rosemary flowers, angelica root, coriander, bitter almonds, almost all sourced from the territory of Podere Castellare or from other small local producers working under organic farming conditions. A choice that confirms the desire to give voice to the territory and to create a Gin capable of returning to enthusiasts the scents and aromas typical of the lands of Tuscany.
