Pian delle Querci
Pian delle Querci is a small family-run winery located in Montalcino, in the province of Siena. We are within a unique terroir, striking for its environmental landscape, natural and practically intact, where viticulture has always played a significant role. This has also been true for the Pinti family, which for four generations has been committed to producing quality wines that tell this territory with faithfulness and authenticity. Today, Angelo and Angelina dedicate themselves daily to the operations in the vineyard and winery, assisted by a team of great professionals. The love for good wine has led the winery to handle every phase of production with utmost care, allowing them to create honest and expressive labels, where every sip tells the story of rural life.
The owned vineyards of Pian delle Querci extend over an area of about 8.5 hectares of vines, divided between the DOCG of Brunello di Montalcino, the DOC of Rosso di Montalcino, and finally, the DOC Sant'Antimo. Most of the parcels, totaling about 6 hectares, are included within the production area of Brunello.of the parcels, totaling about 6 hectares, is included within the production area of Brunello. Among the rows, the training system used is that of the low spurred cordon, at a height of about 70 centimeters from the ground, and the yields per hectare are intentionally kept low. The principal grape variety cultivated is obviously Sangiovese, the reference grape of the Sienese, which grows its roots in a mixed clayey soil, rich in skeleton, in vineyards located about 250 meters above sea level. In the winery, only indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation, and the macerations are very long, allowing each bunch to impart character and personality to each type. The aging is carried out in large Slavonian oak barrels.
Pian delle Querci produces, each year, a small production, slightly above fifty thousand bottles. Alongside the Rosso di Montalcino, the entry-level product of the entire range produced, we find the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, available in both a basic version and a Reserve, the qualitative peak that confirms how Sangiovese is a grape variety capable of giving great emotions even several years after the harvest.
