Podere La Berta
Podere La Berta is a farm located near Brisighella, in the province of Ravenna. It is an Agriturismo that offers a genuine family-style cuisine, based on typical local products, sustainable and zero-kilometer. The activity of Podere is complemented by the production of extra virgin olive oil, craft beers, wines, and grappa. All products are tied to the territory and are made with care, according to the best traditions of the past. The project was born from the desire to carry on and enhance the oldest peasant customs of the Romagna land, which has a rich range of gastronomic excellences, products with an authentic face, united by the pleasure of good living. A heritage to safeguard and pass on to new generations, a true identity inheritance of past centuries.
The winery of Podere La Berta is based on a philosophy inspired by the concepts of craftsmanship in the production process and the authenticity of the wines in relation to the territory. It is no coincidence that the logo represents the Caveja, that is a wrought iron pin of Celtic origin, which in antiquity was used on carts to secure the yoke. A tool that symbolizes the strong bond with traditions and the work of the land. The wine labels are also homages to the farming culture. The images depict, in fact, ancient fruit plant varieties, now abandoned, that could still be seen near country houses, cultivated fields, or even married to the vines according to ancient Etruscan custom.
This rich biodiversity of the territory included plants such as strawberry tree, sorb, medlar, quince, apricot, pomegranate, cornelian cherry, watermelon pear, varieties that are now almost extinct, but in the past provided sustenance for the lives of farmers and their families. The vineyards extend over a total area of about twenty hectares, characterized by predominantly clayey soils. Among the rows are the historic grape varieties of the area: Sangiovese, Albana, Trebbiano, and Pagadebit. The vineyard is managed with care and the winemaking processes are very simple. The final result materializes in a range of straightforward and immediate wines that perfectly reflect the place of production and its traditions.
