Poderi Sanguineto
Poderi Sanguineto is a Tuscan company located in Acquaviva di Montepulciano, in the province of Siena. For over 50 years, it has produced great wines of the territory. The winery was founded in 1958 by Federico Forsoni, who decided to acquire 35 hectares in this splendid corner of Tuscany, historically suited for viticulture. The estate took shape based on the model of a classic mixed-farming company, with land dedicated to the cultivation of cereals, livestock breeding, and some vineyards to produce a bit of wine for family use and for the circle of closest friends.
With the passing of the founder in 1983 and the arrival at the helm of the property by his daughter Dora, the farm began to change its face. Growing up in the countryside, after other work experiences, Dora decided to return to her roots and rediscovered a strong bond with the land. She thus began to focus primarily on viticulture, profoundly modifying the characteristics of the farm. Today the company extends overall over about 50 hectares, of which only 6 are dedicated toto the cultivation of the vine, chosen in the best positions from a pedoclimatic point of view. The selection of grape varieties has been based on the traditions of the territory, favoring the native varieties, present for centuries in the area of Montepulciano: the Prugnolo Gentile, a local clone of Sangiovese, the Mammolo, the Malvasia, the Trebbiano, the Grechetto, and the Canaiolo nero.
The estate is managed with a philosophy aimed at rediscovering and enhancing the oldest customs of the territory. The utmost attention is given to vineyard management, considered as part of an environmental context to be viewed as a whole and managed with the utmost respect. The vineyards are a living organism harmoniously inserted into an unspoiled nature characterized by rich biodiversity. The plants are cared for with attention, respecting the natural vegetative and productive cycle, without interference or forcing, so that they can find their natural balance and express themselves at their best. All chemical products have been banned between the rows, and for treatments only sulfur and copper are used, in the minimum quantities necessary to prevent the spread of powdery mildew and downy mildew.sulfur and copper, in the minimum quantities necessary to prevent the spread of powdery mildew and downy mildew. The result is a range of straightforward and genuine wines, an authentic mirror of the terroir.
