Poggio dei Gorleri
In the evocative environmental context of the Western Ligurian Riviera, precisely in Diano Marina, the wine-producing reality of Poggio dei Gorleri is configured as a model of sustainability and territoriality, values passionately pursued by the Merano family along with the consultancy of the renowned and talented Piedmontese winemaker Giuseppe Caviola. The production philosophy of the winery, founded in 2003, places alongside respect for tradition a constant desire for research and experimentation, an element that has led to the creation of modern wines with a strong Ligurian personality. In addition to wine production, the estate also focuses on hospitality thanks to the splendid Wine Resort immersed in nature and vineyards with a magnificent view of the sea.
The vineyards owned by the Poggio dei Gorleri estate extend over just over 10 hectares, distributed between the locations of Gorleri in Diano Marina, Andora, Cenesi in Cisano sul Neva, and Perinetti in Vessalico. The vines are partly about 30 years old and partly about 10 years old and derive from massal selections of Ligurian and Sardinian vineyards of varieties Pigato, Vermentino, Granaccia, and Dolcetto, the latter represented by the local biotype Ormeasco. All these grape varieties are planted on lean hilly soils, characterized by a greater presence of clay and iron towards Albenga and a strong calcareous matrix in Diano Marina. In addition to these peculiar pedological components, the vines benefit from the sunny climate characterized by the constant presence of Mediterranean breezes. Both for controlled temperature alcoholic fermentation and for the subsequent maturation phase of the wine, stainless steel tanks are used, except for one label that ages instead in French oak tonneau: the Granaccia Riviera Ligure di Ponente ‘Shalok’.
The production of the Poggio dei Gorleri winery is focused on white wines, sunny and Mediterranean expressions of the radiant Western Ligurian Riviera, crafted with particular attention to environmental health and biodiversity. Wines that are infused with unique aromas capable of evoking this enchanting territory.
