Puzelat-Bonhomme

Les Muntils is a village of 2000 inhabitants in central France, in the department of Loir-et-Cher, and here is the headquarters of the Puzelat-Bonhomme winery. It is known that the Puzelat family, since the 15th century, owned the vineyard “Le Clos du Tue-Boeuf”, a particularly suited plot that provided top-quality grapes, which, however, were delivered to various cooperative wineries or to “négociants”. Thierry Puzelat, along with his brother Jean-Marie, has been running the company since 1990, and decides to vinify his own grapes personally, and since the grape production is not sufficient, he starts purchasing from other valid producers, thus in 1999 the “maison” becomes “Récoltante et Negociante”.

In the following years, the estate is enriched with new plots until it reaches a total area of 16 hectares, of which about ten are rented. From the beginning of his management, Thierry has been influenced by Francios Dutheil and Marcel Lapierre, who have long been producing absolutely natural wines, without enological artifices and thus decides to cultivate the vines and produce wine according to the principles of organic farming.

This is a very courageous and demanding step, which however improves the quality of the wines produced. In 2009, Pierre-Olivier Bonhomme joins the Puzelat brothers, becoming an increasingly important figure in the management of the vineyards and the winery. Today this maison produces about twenty different wines, both from pure grape varieties and through skillful blends of many different grape varieties present in the region, all of which are absolutely natural, a true expression of this wonderful terroir.
