Raìca

Raìca is a young Sardinian reality that produces artisanal wines characterized by a strong territorial imprint. The company is managed by Cinzia and Eugenio Bocchino, Piedmontese winemakers with family roots in the lands of Langhe, who were captivated by the charm of Sardinia and decided to create a new project. After research and inspections, in 2016 they identified Gallura as the most interesting area for their new work experience, particularly the San Giovannicchetto territory, near Arzachena, in the province of Olbia. The initial idea was to enhance the resources of the northern Sardinian lands, always cradle of viticulture and particularly suited for the cultivation of Vermentino, the most widespread white grape variety on the island.

Gallura indeed offers ideal conditions for the cultivation of white grape varieties. The soils are characterized by the presence of soils derived from the weathering of ancient granite rocks, which have left behind sandy and stony soils rich in minerals. The climate is Mediterranean, with very hot and dry summers, but always refreshed by the presence of the Maestrale, which often blows violently from the northwest and by the breezes from the sea of the Strait of Bonifacio. The estate extends over seven hectares, located in a hilly area, at an altitude of about 100 meters above sea level, with a west-facing exposure. In addition to the young vineyards owned by Raìca, they manage an old Vermentino vineyard of over 45 years on a rental basis, which yields grapes of remarkable richness and aromatic concentration.sometimes also with part of the whole grape clusters, without prior destemming. The aging takes place mainly in wood, using French oak tonneau.
