Salentein

At the foot of the Andes mountain range, in the wine-growing area of Uco Valley, lies the Argentine wine estate Salentein, born with a precise goal: to produce top-quality wines linked to their place of origin. The modern winery has been designed based on two key concepts: aesthetics and functionality.

The nearly 50 hectares of vineyards cultivated by Salentein are located in Uco Valley, Mendoza, where the vines benefit from soils mainly composed of sand and silt, from the high altitudes that reach nearly 1,700 meters above sea level, and from the dry climate characterized by significant temperature variations between day and night. In this pedoclimatic context, the estate applies sustainable viticulture in the cultivation of the grape varieties Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. The winery is divided into two levels: the first reserved for fermentation, equipped with stainless steel tanks and large French oak vats, the second dedicated to the long aging of wines in French oak barriques. The transfer of the precious liquid from the tanks to the barrels occurs by gravity, thus avoiding excessive stress, and the entire aging environment is at controlled temperature and humidity.

Salentein winery is the creator of a large production based on Malbec, the emblematic grape variety of the Mendoza area, alongside numerous other fine labels made from international grapes. The main selections offered by the bodega are: ‘Numina’, a line that expresses the spirit of the area where the estate was founded, ‘Single Vineyard’, from single parcels located in the highest part of Uco Valley, and ‘Primus’, an iconic range produced exclusively in the best vintages. In general, the wines of Salentein manage to combine the ripeness due to the sunny climate of Mendoza, the slender freshness granted by the high altitudes of the territory, and the pronounced aromatic fragrance that derives from the significant temperature variations.
