San Filippo
The San Filippo Winery is located a few kilometers from the famous hill of Montalcino. As is customary in the area, the estate cultivates the Sangiovese grosso destined for the production of the classic wines of the region: Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, and Brunello Riserva. The heart of the property is characterized by the presence of an ancient village, with a farmhouse that has been completely renovated and restored to its former glory. In addition to the vineyards, the winery also has two beautiful accommodation facilities, one at Villa San Filippo and the other at Sant'Antimo, for those who wish to fully savor the unique charm of a stay among the vines, in the setting of the wonderful landscape of the Tuscan countryside.
The estate is located in the southeast area relative to the town of Montalcino, in a zone characterized by a cool and always very breezy climate, protected from disturbances by the presence of Monte Amiata. The property extends overall over about twenty hectares, of which about halfdestined for vineyard and the rest for olive grove and woods. The vineyards are cultivated at an altitude ranging from 270 to 310 meters above sea level, on calcareous-clay soils with the presence of schists and fossils of ancient marine origin. In these particular pedoclimatic conditions, the red grape varieties, and in particular Sangiovese, express themselves with extreme finesse and elegance, producing intense, complex, and very long-lived wines.
The vinifications take place in the modern winery, built on the foundations of an ancient building. The old cellars have been preserved and integrated into the renovation project and are still used for the aging of wines, thanks to naturally constant temperature and humidity conditions. The fermentations take place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, and the wines mature in woods of various sizes, depending on the label, type, and vintage. The production is managed with artisanal passion, with the intent to always offer wines of excellent value that can authentically represent theterritory.
