In the heart of the charming Tuscan countryside, nestled among the undulating hills above the village of San Casciano dei Bagni, stands Carlo Franchetti's oenological gem: Sancaba. Founded in 2011, this viticultural project has deep roots that delve into the unique terroir of this region, concealing an intoxicating soul and a history of success. The name itself, Sancaba, is a loving tribute to the town of San Casciano dei Bagni, a celebration of the identity rooted in the territory and its millennia-old history. Carlo's acquisition of the land marked the beginning of an unforgettable adventure, a journey imbued with passion and dedication to creating wines of extraordinary elegance and character.

The story of Sancaba is permeated with a profound connection to the land, characterized by friable Galestro soils, Albarese rock, sandy clay, and sandstone, along with a mountain climate that serves as a natural habitat for Pinot Noir. The vineyards' altitude, ranging between 650 and 750 meters, and the influence of the surrounding Apennine Mountains give the grapes a rich profile, marked by vibrant freshness and distinctive minerality. Here, amid the gentle hills and cool winds, high-density vines are cultivated with love and dedication, using organic agronomic practices and, more recently, biodynamic practices, providing an idyllic environment where the plants can fully express their potential. The result is grapes of extraordinary quality, prized for their aromatic complexity, mineral richness, and distinctive, authentic personality.

Through a production philosophy focused on sustainability and respect for the environment, Sancaba's vineyards are an invaluable natural resource. With every sip of wine, one can taste the magic of this enchanted place, an oasis of beauty and authenticity in the heart of southern Tuscany, as well as appreciate the soul of the producer. Indeed, as Carlo Franchetti himself says: "I love making wine. It's a work of art that changes every year... as I change, so does my winemaking. Wine bears the signature of its maker. Wines are very similar to the producer who made them."
