Santa Teresa is a Spanish style rum produced in Aragua, Venezuela. The distillery is the oldest of Venezuela and is an undisputed bastion of the nation and of the quality of distillation: founded in 1796 by the  SpanishCount of Tovar y Blanco, the Hacienda is now owned by the Vollmer family, and is located in El Consejo, Revenga County in the State of Aragua, about 80 km from the capital Caracas. Founded as a sugar plantation, becomes a real distillery after the purchase of stills from France and Germany and, until after the war, the only of Venezuela.

To maintain high product quality, the distillery Santa Teresa does not spend more than 24 hours between the harvest of the sugar cane and the process to obtain the molasses, using a continuous fermentation process. Its rums are both distilled in pot stills and column stills, using for the aging a combination of American white oak barrels and French Limousin oak barrels.

For the first 200 years of honorable activities, in 1996 the Santa Teresa produced a wonderful Rum: the Solera 1796. Produced with the use of Solera technique, it is made from a blend of rums aged between 4 and 35 years old, an elegant product that represent one the best artistic expression of rum from Venezuela. Santa Teresa is the fusion of old and new of this beautiful country, which is worth a try at least of its most famous rum.
