Savoia
The Turin-based production company Savoia specializes in the creation of Amaro Dolce Americano, a product that combines the all-Italian tradition of vermouth and bitter. In fact, these two ingredients are the foundation of the famous Americano cocktail, whose name comes from the Italian boxer Primo Carnera, nicknamed "the American" due to his successes in the United States. Other sources attribute the origin of the name to the early 1900s American habit of drinking vermouth mixed with bitter liqueurs and gin, forming a combination known as a "cocktail". However, it seems that this cocktail originated at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries as a variation of the Milano Torino, made with Milan bitter and Turin vermouth but without the addition of soda. The creator of the Savoia project is Giuseppe Gallo, a renowned bartender who, after 15 years traveling the world spreading the knowledge of vermouth among professionals and consumers, decided to embark on this adventure. Today, Giuseppe is considered one of the leading experts in spirits, bitters, and Italian tradition of the Americano.
