Sieman
Sieman is a small reality from Padua that arises from the dream of the 3 young Filippini brothers. Siemàn translated in the Veneto dialect means "six hands", that is, those of Marco, Daniele, and Andrea who, driven by the same passion for wine and beer, decided in 2013 to realize their project in a true estate in Villaga, on the Colli Berici. Sieman is also a declaration of intent, because those six hands that get dirty in the earth are the most authentic symbol of craftsmanship. "To safeguard and respect the territory" is the motto that the three winemakers carry forward; in fact, from the beginning, it was decided to follow a natural path aimed at enhancing the territory and recovering ancient local varieties. In 2014, the first harvest begins, and three years later, the first artisanal beer production also starts. A reality in continuous growth that already surprises and excites for the expressive freedom of the wines it produces and for the great future that awaits them.
The Sieman winery extends over 9 hectares located among the gentle hills of the area, surrounded by woods, olive groves, and stretches of fields. 4 hectares are exclusively dedicated to vines and planted with local varieties: Tai Rosso, Garganega, Pinot Bianco, Cabernet, Incrocio Manzoni, and Sauvignon. The soils on which the vines rest, aged between 5 and 40 years, are composed of clay and silt with a high presence of limestone rocks and varying percentages of marine fossils. Situated at an altitude between 50 and 100 meters, they are trained in the guyot and double inverted form. The respectful work in the vineyard translates in the cellar with a very sensitive and non-invasive approach. Fermentations are catalyzed by indigenous yeasts, and aging occurs in wooden barrels of different sizes, concrete, or steel. Filtrations, clarifications, or additions of external products are not tolerated by Sieman.
The Sieman wines are fresh and expressive extracts of the Padua countryside. They are delicious, sharp, and have great personality, with a slender and refreshing body, equipped with a compulsive and thirst-quenching drinkability. They evoke the ancient peasant memories and are typical and delightful territorial interpretations of the Colli Berici.
