Berti Stefano
Stefano Berti is a winemaker from Ravaldino in Monte, in the hilly area of Predappio, who has dedicated his entire activity to Sangiovese di Romagna. For several years he has been at the helm of the small family estate, acquired from his parents in 1963, transformed into a dynamic production reality starting in 2000, following the guidance and example of his friend and mentor Michele Satta. Today he is supported by a young and enterprising team, increasingly focused on exploring the various possibilities that Sangiovese can offer in a territory like that of Predappio.
The vineyards of Stefano Berti extend for just under 6 hectares in the hilly territory, where the clay and limestone soils provide excellent conditions for vine cultivation, and the excellent vocation for the production of high-quality Sangiovese di Romagna is a well-established fact. Alongside the older vineyards, dating back to 1968, newer ones have been planted, choosing dense planting, spur cordon training systems, and clones of latest generation. Over the years, with the aim of progressively improving the fruit of his work, Stefano has converted the cultivation first to organic farming and then to biodynamic farming, abolishing any synthetic treatment in the vineyard. In the winery, processes that enhance the substance and fleshiness of the fruit are preferred, using spontaneous fermentations with only indigenous yeasts and aging in small or medium-sized barrels.
The wines of Stefano Berti tell, through a straightforward, clean, and generous personality, one of the most authentic and genuine faces of Romagna wine. The goal of the entire production is to express the identity of a land with high potential, still partly unexpressed. Each label is the result of a modern, rigorous, and precise stylistic approach that has garnered wide acclaim from the public and critics and has established itself as a reference point for the territory.
